Access to the park:

Outside of our main site, park users will still have access to the rest of the Park, including the sports centre, museum and car park during the build period (1st-11th September); however, on show days a one-way system will be implemented in the car park for safety reasons. We will be providing stewards and installing barriers in and near the car park to direct both event-related and regular traffic. We will be using the car park during this time for accessibility ticket holders parking, and taxi and Private Hire (Uber) pick up and drop off. Dedicated taxi marshalls will also be on hand to help manage taxis and customers as we have had in previous years.

There is a footpath that cuts through the site. This will remain open during the build and break. There will be crossing points on the trackway to facilitate passage for regular park users. These will be managed by stewards who will let park users across when it is clear to do so. It will be open for public access during the build up until midday on Thursday 11th until midday on Monday 15th when a footpath diversion will be in place which will be signposted on site.  The path will be reopened from Monday 15th September until we clear the park on Friday 19th September when it will all return to normal.

We do not close any roads around the park but there will be a short section of parking bays which are suspended on event days on Popes Lane which has been approved by Ealing Council. This is done to prevent festival goers parking near the park.

During the events, park users are still very much welcome to visit the park and the museum but please be mindful that there will be increased levels of pedestrian traffic, so if you drive into the park, drive dead slow. Our security team will be there to assist and guide vehicles so please listen to them as they are there to help keep everyone safe.

Site boundary:

Please see our site perimeter and main production route outlined on the map below (the production route from Gate E is shared between all events taking place in the park):

Traffic management:

We work closely with the local council, emergency services, Transport for London and our contractors with the aim to cause as little disruption as possible to residents and provide safe access to and exit from the site. Traffic routes will be managed by Traffic Co-ordinators and marshalled by an experienced traffic management company who will be checking for correct access accreditation,  ensuring vehicles drive slowly and stick to the trackways whilst in the park.

Event attendees are encouraged to travel by public transport and we have publicised that there is no parking available at the event or in the local area. The planned taxi pickup and drop-off will be located within Gunnersbury Park with the aim of minimising traffic in the local area. We are implementing robust crowd management and dispersal plans to help move customers away from the local area towards public transport hubs as safely, and efficiently as possible. There will be some planned tube line works over the weekend and as such we are being responsive to the stations open per day and will adjust the plans accordingly. As we had a similar situation last year, it is expected most attendees will arrive and depart from Ealing Broadway again, which is around 24 min walk away.

Whilst ticket holders leave the site, the higher volume of people crossing the A406 to get to Acton Town station will likely result in longer waiting times for traffic at these lights. Details regarding our traffic management plans will be agreed upon with the local authority and released in due course.

We are also in communication with Lime to discuss better management of the bikes and scooters that are left around the park and block paths. Lime will be sending more staff to clear the bikes and scooters away and will be closely monitoring the numbers in the area across the weekend.

Transport:

We anticipate that there will be minimal impact on public transport on event days due to phased arrivals, although it is anticipated that the stations will be slightly busier than normal. As mentioned above, there are going to be some disruptions to the rail network due to planned engineering works which we have accounted for in our plans.

Please consider that you may need to allow more time for your journey when travelling at these times. The following stations are expected to be busier than normal:

  1. Acton Town - Friday open as normal, closed on Saturday & Sunday

  1. Kew Bridge - some works on this line on Saturday & Sunday - check before travel

  1. Ealing Broadway - Elizabeth & Central lines only on Saturday & Sunday

  1. South Ealing - Friday open as normal, closed on Saturday & Sunday

Noise:

We are working with one of the UK’s leading acoustic consultants Aria Acoustics who draft and oversee our noise management plan (NMP) and will be on and offsite to monitor sound levels on event days.  We also employ a company called Stantec (formerly called Hydrock) who will install temporary sound monitoring stations at points around the area so that we can track sound levels in real time in tandem with Aria’s team who will be out measuring and responding to resident calls.

There will be agreed volume levels monitored by our acoustic consultants and approved by the local authorities. The event has a 10:00pm music curfew on Friday, 10:30pm on Saturday and 10pm on Sunday.

If you have any noise-related issues or queries at any point during a show or the build period, you can get in touch via the community hotline (0203 781 0001) or dedicated resident email address -

Noise:

Sound checks will take place on each of the event days prior to opening and on the day before the first event day. No sound checks will take place earlier than 10:00 am. More information will be posted on our dedicated resident webpage closer to the event dates.

Security:

There will be stewarding directly outside the event and in the surrounding areas, especially during the egress phase. There will be response teams available to respond to any calls made to the community hotline.

Litter picking:

We want to be good neighbours and will arrange for additional cleaning in the local area, both within the park and off-site, with additional litter pickers covering a wide range of roads and streets. We will agree on locations for additional toilets to be deployed close to transport hubs. Litter teams will go out before, during and after the events to collect litter and respond to any event litter reported by residents.

Contact information and residents tickets:

We will be offering a limited number of tickets at a discounted cost to our events for local residents within our approved catchment area (this is within the resident letter) via email.
