Gunnersbury is one of London’s major parks offering a wide range of activities from quiet walks, nature trails, boating lakes and biodiversity through fun runs and sports activities, concerts and music festivals and is home to a major museum of social and community life in West London.
Once the landed estate of the Rothschild Banking family Gunnersbury was acquired for the public and local communities to enjoy and is now owned by the London Boroughs of Hounslow and Ealing who have set up a Community Interest Company (CIC) to manage the Park and Museum and a Development Trust to help raise funding.
Major plans are underway to further improve the park and the offering to local communities and we need help to steer and develop all this …….
Are you excited about the opportunities for using the museum, historic buildings, heritage gardens, extensive new sports facilities and significant other open spaces to improve peoples mental and physical wellbeing and further green the local environment?
Are you perhaps already involved in developing opportunities for people to enhance their lives through education, sport or other community activities?
If you can say yes to either of these questions you may well be the person we are looking for!
With your team of 6 fellow Directors you will need to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, park users and community groups across the two boroughs of Hounslow and Ealing to listen to peoples’ views and make sure expectations are being met.
Experience in any of the above areas is useful but don’t be put off from applying if you have the interest and enthusiasm for being part of this project.
We are looking for your potential and you will be supported by our Chief Executive Officer, David Bowler, and our committed staff team. We will also ensure that you receive a comprehensive induction programme and ongoing training We are trying hard at Gunnersbury to ensure we have a diverse group of Directors, with a range of experience and skills and as far as possible reflecting our local communities.
Gunnersbury serves both Hounslow and Ealing and our outgoing director comes from Hounslow. Ideally we would like our new Director to come from the Borough of Hounslow but above all we are keen to appoint the right person.
